Senior Communications Associate, Sightline Institute (formerly Northwest Environment Watch)

Overview:
Sightline Institute is a 15-year-old non-profit research and communication center—a think tank—with a mission to bring about a healthy, lasting prosperity in the Pacific Northwest. We stand for community, fairness, opportunity, and responsibility.

Sightline seeks a full-time senior communications associate to help package and market our research to target audiences of Northwest media and influential northwesterners; and to help build that audience over time. She/he will plan marketing and PR campaigns around priority products such as our daily news service (Sightline Daily), policy reports, or graphic tools we want audiences to share widely; develop longer-term partnerships and promotions aimed at getting our messages in front of audiences; and oversee our email outreach. The ideal candidate would have solid experience in marketing (particularly digital marketing), PR, and events.

Sightline is a smart, fun, productive office of 14 dedicated professionals that offers a terrific benefits package and flexible working environment to employees. Over the past three years, our size and influence on Northwest policy has grown steadily. If you’re passionate about developing creative marketing and media approaches for policy-oriented messages; if you love building audiences for work that matters; and if you’re willing to move heaven and earth to bring about a brighter future in the Northwest, we want to meet you!

Regular products include our monthly newsletter (which may be redesigned this year) and action alerts about specific products aimed to encourage our audiences to share our messages widely.
  • Track and report on email and web stats to inform how we can improve our online communications strategy. Oversee work of production assistant to manage email lists, some web production, and image management.

  • Contribute to overall communications strategy and decision-making, helping make the team and Sightline’s work more effective.
