Executive Director, Washington Toxics CoalitionWashington Toxics Coalition seeks a dynamic, resourceful, proven leader to guide this Seattle-based environmental health organization. The Executive Director must be a highly strategic thinker with a strong capacity to guide staff in managing and implementing programs, while building upon the entrepreneurial, bold and fast-paced nature of the nonprofit organization’s work. WTC has been a statewide and national leader in efforts to protect health and the environment and for promoting safe alternatives to toxic chemicals. For over twenty-five years, WTC has won a series of groundbreaking policy victories – including the nation’s toughest toy safety law and the nation’s first ban on all forms of toxic flame retardants known as PBDEs. WTC is working tirelessly to pass legislation that keeps toxic chemicals out of products, food, and schools. We educate the public, conduct original research and provide resources to help parents, caregivers, and others make safe choices for their children and themselves. Key responsibilities of the Executive Director focus on strategic direction, fund development, financial management, community and public relations, staff management, and Board administration. Qualifications include demonstrated success on advocacy campaigns, demonstrated ability to raise funds from a variety of sources (with emphasis on major individual donors and foundations), excellent communications skills, proven ability to work collaboratively and experience in budgeting and financial management. The ideal candidate will also have substantial leadership experience and a familiarity with nonprofit organizations and governance.
