Communications and Outreach Internship, Fuse

Fuse is a web-based political advocacy group working to provide a cutting edge online organizing and communications hub for Washington State. Fuse is focused primarily on securing major advances in progressive public policy for Washington. We offer busy but concerned people a steady diet of hopeful and efficient opportunities to help build a better future and make a real difference on the full range of progressive causes people care about.

Fuse is seeking part-time interns to support our outreach, communications and political programs. These positions are a great opportunity for sharp, social, hard working, and organized young people to develop their political and professional skills. Internships are available immediately, or for summer and fall quarters. Interns can earn college credit upon meeting the required hours, assigned by your school.

Interning with Fuse is a valuable asset to a degree in Political Science, Communications, Law, or History, as it will supplement course work and provide you with valuable experience you can’t get in a classroom. Fuse will offer guidance and help you gain experience in communications, political advocacy and campaign work while providing you priceless networking opportunities. Plus, we offer a fun, progressive, and creative work environment!

Most responsibilities will be assigned based on intern’s skills and interests, but some responsibilities include:

  • Recruiting new members at events through presentations and tabling
  • Assisting in communications with our members and recruiting them to Fuse activities
  • Support administrative operations, such as database and website management
  • Managing Fuse MySpace and Facebook Pages

Prospective interns should posses the following qualities:

  • Interest in state and local politics and in the non-profit sector
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Hard-working, ability to multi-task and see a project through from beginning to end
  • Strong social and creative skills and the ability to work as part of a small team
  • Access to a car is a plus, but not a requirement

TO APPLY: Please send a résumé and cover letter to Mina Hashemi Mercer with INTERNSHIP in the subject line. No calls please.

In your cover letter, please address the following question:

Why are you interested in an internship with Fuse? What skills can you bring to Fuse and what would you like to learn or gain from the experience?
