Community Organizer, People for Puget Sound

Job Title: Community Organizer
Supervisor: Membership Manager
Work Schedule: Daytime or evenings 15-25 hours per week

People For Puget Sound, a non-profit citizens’ group working to protect and restore the health of Puget Sound and the Northwest Straits, seeks energetic and enthusiastic Canvass Specialists to help build our membership and annual giving programs. As a constant “voice” for our organization, Canvass Specialists are an integral part of our staff raising grassroots support for local environmental issues and helping new members get involved with People For Puget Sound.

Job Duties:

  • Recruit new members, activists and volunteers through door-to-door canvassing
  • Share educational messages about the Puget Sound ecosystem
  • Contact People For Puget Sound’s activist members to encourage them to take legislative action
  • Data entry into membership database
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualities/Skills Needed:

  • Passion for the environment
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Comfortable asking people for money
  • Outgoing
  • Self-motivated
  • Prior canvass experience encouraged but not required

Pay Rate:
$9-$15/hr (rate varies depending on $$ raised each pay period)
