Amazon dumps ALEC!

It’s kind of a big deal.

Last week, we joined our partners at Working Washington, Color Of Change, and other progressive groups to deliver more than 500,000 signatures to Amazon shareholders at their annual meeting in Seattle. With hundreds rallying outside, we called on Amazon to cut ties with the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), the shadowy corporate front group that writes special interest bills for conservative legislators across the country.

And they did. Amazon dumped ALEC.

Together, we made a statement Amazon couldn’t ignore, but it’s just the beginning. We have to keep working to hold corporate special interests accountable and elect progressive champions this November who will fight for working families.

It sounds like an insurmountable challenge, but our success with Amazon and ALEC showed what we can accomplish when we work together for a better future.
